This summer was a great summer for accreditation visits! Well actually every summer is clearly!
This summer we were able to visit 22 camps who were up for an Accreditation visit! We had 22 Visitors volunteer their time and travel all over Illinois, and travel up to Michigan to complete these onsite visits! We welcomed 4 new camps into the accreditation program! But Accreditation does not just happen in the summer! Annual Accreditation Reports (AAR's) were a new element to the Accreditation Program that was introduced in December 1, 2016. 85 camps completed AARs between 12/1/16 and 2/15/17, and we were grateful to have 19 of our Visitors help us review all 85 camps AARs. This past spring, we asked our membership to vote to select our Board of Directors for the Fiscal Year 2018. This slate was a single slate put forth by our nominating committee. It has always been intentional to keep our elections driven by our membership and through a membership elected nominating committee and Board of Directors. During this past election, Catherine Curry was elected as President-Elect. Catherine “Cat” Curry has served on our board for several years and has held the roles of Secretary and Vice President. Catherine continually demonstrated her commitment to leading our organization when she became Interim President at the end of FY2015. Through her experiences on the Board of Directors, Mid States Camp Conference Leadership Team and as a Visitor for the Accreditation program, Catherine has remained committed to our guiding vision to get more children to camp and help make those camps better! Congratulations, Cat! We are also excited to welcome Brad Cripe from Holiday Home Camp and Kenley Perry from Westlake Christian Academy to our board! Both Kenley and Brad have been volunteers and active members of ACA Illinois. We can’t wait to see what talents and skills that they bring to our organization in these new roles. Welcome Brad and Kenely! Additionally, Karen Hedden was elected to the Nominating Committee and Susan Chansey was re-elected. Thank you Karen and Susan for your continued service to ACA Illinois!
