Dear Mid States Community & Friends of ACA Illinois,
It is with great disappointment that I share that Pheasant Run will not be our host hotel for the 2020 Mid States Camp Conference and Executive Seminar as planned.
I know. It took me a moment to believe this news as well.
Pheasant Run will be going up for auction at the end of January and will be seeing new ownership soon after. As a result, the hotel is undergoing major layoffs and transforming their operations and will not be able to accommodate us.
We have already begun the motions to find a new conference home for this coming March. I have assembled a team of experts in this area to help us transition our currently arranged program into a new home located in the Chicagoland area. I am beyond confident we will be able to announce that new location just after the New Year. The committee and ACA Illinois staff are moving forward with planning what we expect to be the most fantastic program we’ve ever had.
Pheasant Run has been our home base for 19 years. Their staff has become part of the fabric of our community. Similar to camp, the magic of this event involves many people behind the scenes giving long hours, tireless efforts, strategic thought, and solid customer service. This involves an evolving team of volunteers, ACA Illinois staff, and Pheasant Run staff. None of us could do this without the others. The hotel staff’s involvement has been vital to our success.
I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with the phenomenal convention services team for over a decade at Pheasant Run. These are people who have committed themselves to help us keep Mid States alive and thriving through economic depressions and transitions. I cannot put into words the gratitude I have for the support and dedication we have received from the Pheasant Staff over the years. Even during this time of uncertainty for themselves, they continue to reach out and provide support to us as we transition to a new location.
With this transition, we know you’ll have questions. We’ve compiled some FAQs about this change and will continue to adjust these as we learn more information. You can click here to read more. Additionally, anyone with a reservation at Pheasant Run has been notified to cancel their existing reservation. As soon as we have set up the new hotel and their reservation system, we will let you know.
We are as eager as you are to keep Mid States and the Executive Seminar moving forward. This community and annual gathering are more than a conference. Mid States is the energy that fuels us as we head into our summer. Mid States is the anchor for our development as changemakers. Mid States is our support system. Mid States is home. Mid States is the camp for us camp folk. Mid States is so many things to so many people.
If you have any questions, please reach out as our staff is ready to help you through this transition. You can reach me or Kim Steiner, our Membership & Program Services Director at 312-332-0833. Or email us at email@example.com.
I will be in touch via our e-newsletters and social media as soon as we learn more information about our new location. Until then, I hope you have a wonderful holiday season with your friends and families and a very joyous New Year!
