The Chicago Camping Committee is a joint effort of staff members from the Cook County Juvenile Court, the Chicago Police Department Detective Division, Youth Investigators Group, and the American Camp Association, Illinois.

As juvenile justice and camping professionals, we have a special interest to provide annual therapeutic camp retreats for vulnerable populations of children and adolescents. Court-wide thousands of abused and disadvantaged children have attended camp over the years through Court and police referrals.

We are convinced of the therapeutic power of these camp experiences for recovering abuse victims and challenged urban youth. Our efforts help place at-risk and adjudicated youth a variety of appropriate camp experiences including a 2 night/3 day traditional camp experience. Campers attend with their probation officers or police officers.
