accreditation  versus  member  camp

What is the difference between an Accreditation Membership VS Member Camp Membership? The main difference is that Accredited Camps/Programs participate in a thorough quality assurance process to verify that they meet a rigorous and standardized set of service and operational guidelines. A camp or program accredited by the American Camp Association, Illinois has gone through this process with a knowledgeable, trained volunteer and camp professional who ensures that the camp meets the National ACA Standards and is qualified to facilitate programs being offered. 

Camp or Program Membership, officially known as Member Camps/Programs, offer your camp the opportunity to become part of a community that will support your organizational goals for professionalism, developing qualified staff, and maintaining your superior programming without the additional dedication and quality assurance processes that accreditation offers. This is sometimes recommended for camps or programs that are not yet ready to take the leap to accreditation, but are looking to get access to tools, resources and expert professionals that can help you determine if accreditation is right for you, and how to best move forward in becoming accredited.
