Summer Camp Referrals for IDHS Clients

2024 Summer Referrals are open Monday, April 15th through Friday, May 17th.

Thank you for your interest in our referral program for the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) and American Camp Association, Illinois (ACA Illinois) DFI Title XX Camping Services Program. Below are the qualification guidelines for this program, so please review before clicking on the button to begin the online form.

IDHS Client Qualifications for Enrollment

All clients:

  • Must be between the ages of 5 and 17 on the first day of camp.
  • Are required to be receiving at least one of the following social services through IDHS: SNAP, TANF, or MEDICAID.
  • Must be residents of the state of Illinois.
  • Are eligible for only one camp session per summer with this program.

Important Things to Note

  • The camp session is FREE to clients.
  • Requesting a referral to a camp does not guarantee placement. Clients should submit a request early in the season via phone or online and if a referral is provided, the client should make contact with the camp as soon as possible.
  • Not every county in Illinois has a camp in the program, therefore we may not have a camp to refer you to.
  • Camp sessions typically are one week in length. We do not offer full summer camp sessions or child care options. Each client gets ONE camp session per summer.
  • Children age 4 and under are not eligible. Youth should be age 5 to 17 on the first day of camp.
  • Clients must fully complete the registration form provided by the camp.
  • There is limited funding for this program, therefore once the funds have been claimed by clients, no further referrals will be taken.
