What Should I Post?

Resources encourage folks to post real examples of their volunteer experience using specific numbers, such as:

      • The number of hours you spent volunteering.
      • The size of the team you worked with or managed.
      • Tangible results, such as funds raised, events organized, or people impacted. For example, instead of saying “Organized charity events,” you could write “Led a team of 10 volunteers to organize a fundraiser that raised $10,000 for local shelters.”

Where Should I Post?

The main social media platform we encourage you to post on is LinkedIn, either in your profile or portfolio. LinkedIn demonstrates how to do this in the list below:

      • LinkedIn Profile > Add Section > Volunteer Experience
      • Organization: American Camp Association, Illinois
      • Role: Volunteer, Visitor, Board Member, DEIJ&AR Committee, etc.
      • Cause: [insert issue area]
      • Description Example: I volunteer with the American Camp Association, Illinois, a non-profit agency that provides support, health and risk management resources, and services to both camps and the local community. Hundreds of camps and thousands of professionals from across the globe engage in ACA Illinois events, training, and meetings annually.
